How the Regions conversion works
- 1. Drop your Regions Bank PDF — digital or scanned, monthly statement or a combined multi-month export, up to 50 MB (or batch up to 25 files). Password-protected PDFs and image-only scans both work: scans go through vision OCR automatically.
- 2. Parse & reconcile — every transaction is extracted and the sum is checked against ending balance minus beginning balance within $0.01.
- 3. Download XLSX, CSV, or QBO — one click each, or batch up to 10 statements and download them as a single ZIP.
What a Regions statement PDF looks like
Regions personal checking statements use a five-section layout with Deposits, Withdrawals, Checks, and a Daily Balance Summary at the end. The parser merges transaction blocks chronologically and validates the reconstructed running balance against every printed daily balance — row-level accuracy, not just end-of-month.
Regions Cash Rewards Visa and Prestige Visa credit-card statements ship on a cycle schedule with standard merchant-category columns. These run through the LLM path and reconcile against the printed new-balance figure per cycle.
LifeGreen Savings statements include monthly interest postings as their own rows. The exported XLSX keeps interest entries separate from transfers — summing the Interest rows across a year gives the 1099-INT-ready total without extra lookups.

Where Regions PDFs trip up manual conversion
Format-specific quirks that break naive PDF parsers — and how the reconciliation pipeline handles each one.
LifeGreen automatic savings transfers create paired entries
Regions LifeGreen Savings auto-transfers a small amount from checking to savings on each debit-card purchase. Across a typical month this generates 50-200 small paired entries — debit on checking, matching credit on savings. Naive reconciliation that sums each account independently is correct, but cross-account analysis that tries to net out internal transfers needs to identify the LifeGreen pairs explicitly. The parser tags LifeGreen rows with a shared transfer-ID in metadata so net-cashflow reports can collapse the pairs without losing detail.
Now Banking checkless format omits the Checks paid block
Now Banking is Regions' checkless prepaid-style checking product, and its statement format skips the Checks paid block that other Regions checking tiers include. Parsers that expect every Regions statement to have a Checks paid block will either error out or report a missing-section warning. The parser detects Now Banking by its product code in the header and adjusts the expected section list — Verified-badge reconciliation works identically.
SmartReports embedded summary section interleaves with activity
Regions SmartReports add a category-spending summary block mid-statement, between the Deposits and Withdrawals sections. The summary uses dollar amounts and looks like a transaction table to a naive PDF text-extractor, so it gets ingested as transaction rows and breaks the running-balance math. The parser identifies SmartReports by the printed 'Spending Summary' header and excludes it from the transaction stream while preserving its content in a 'category breakdown' tab in the export.
Regions conversion FAQ
- Does the Daily Balance Summary sharpen reconciliation accuracy?
- Yes. Every printed daily balance is cross-checked against the reconstructed running balance. If a transaction is missed, the exact day the divergence starts is flagged — much faster to debug than an end-of-month $0.00 mismatch.
- Will LifeGreen Checking and Savings statements convert together?
- Yes. Batch up to 10 PDFs mixing checking and savings; each parses through the same pipeline and the ZIP output gives you separate XLSX/CSV/QBO files, one per statement.
- What about Regions Cash Rewards credit-card PDFs?
- Cycle-based credit-card statements use the standard US layout — merchant and category preserved in Description, reconciliation against the printed new-balance figure per cycle.
- How do monthly interest postings appear?
- As their own transaction row with 'Interest Earned' in Description. A year of LifeGreen Savings statements adds up to a ready-made 1099-INT total.
